Ok, Yall! Pinterest is seriously my JAM!!!!! I have generated so much traffic to my blog from this outlet that I wanted to write a post about it and share some tips that have helped me in my blogging journey. Not only has Pinterest helped generate more traffic to my blog but it has also played a huge role in my email list getting more subscribers. Sounds like a WIN to me! So below, I have listed some cool tips to help you rock Pinterest!
Let Jump In!
1. Write a descriptive profile Bio
Make sure to let the public know what your business provides such as your products or services. Let them know how you can help them achieve their goals or what you can help them within your bio. Include any social media or links to products & services you are promoting at that time. Also, If you can provide them with an awesome freebie that they can’t resist like a resource list, printable, or checklist that’s a HUGE plus! Below is an example of my Pinterest profile bio. 🙂
2. Profile Image
This is very important because it’s the first thing that most people see. You want people to remember you so having a great professional profile picture is KEY. It’s also a great idea to have the same profile picture for all your social media outlets as well. I currently use the same profile picture for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest. People are more likely to follow you if they remember your picture.
3. Profile Business name
Make sure your profile business name stands out! I currently combine my first name + Keywords related to my niche in my business name! This is key because it makes my name searchable in the Pinterest search. Pinterest is all about Keywords so make sure to plug in those keywords every where you get a chance to.
4. Board Strategy
It’s good to pick 10-15 board topics based on your ideal client’s interests & have at least 20 pins in each board. As you can see below all my boards are related to my niche such as blogging tips, side hustle tips and Social Media tips and more. Below I have boards that fit in with both the creative side and side hustle side of my niche so that I am consistent with my brand. So, if you are a Fashion blogger, you might have boards with the titles
“Fashion for women” , “Fashion for Kids”, etc.
For the boards that don’t fit into your brand, you can just make those private. This option gives you a chance to keep the boards but only you can see it. Woooo hoo! Now we are TALKING! 🙂
5. Convert to a BUSINESS account, yoooooo!
When you switch to Pinterest for Business you will be able to see how your pins are performing . You will be able to see which pins perform very well and which ones you might need to update. Pinterest for business has a built-in analytics system so you will be able to monitor your traffic growth. Also, if you want to promote any pins you will have to have a business account! Since you are already a Superhero business owner this will be a breeze for you! 🙂 Click here to learn more & sign up for a Pinterest Business account !
6. Create Vertical Pins
Ok, I learned about this a little later but it’s a GEM, for real! 🙂 Make sure to create vertical pins when you create blog posts because most horizontal pins get lost in the Pinterest mix. Speaking of creating pins, if you need a place to create your pins check out Canva! It’s seriously AMAZING.COM and it’s FREE to use. Click here to check out Canva’s site. On Canva they have a Pinterest template ready to go for you to use. If you want to do a custom pin size you can go with 950x 1400 or 1000 x 1500 or so!
Old Way of Pinning!
New Way of Pinning! Woo hoo! 🙂
7. Rich Pins
Rich Pins are pins that include extra information right on the Pin itself such as your Identicon, the name of your website, and a little description of your post. Basically, rich pins take normal pins and make them look STELLAR..- Like, Seriously! Below is an example of the ways you can tell if your pins are Rich Pins. Amy Howard from AmyHowardSocial.com has a great tutorial up on her site about how to set up Rich Pins and you can access it by clicking here . & if you are more of a video tutorial superhero check out this video tutorial on how to set up a Rich pin by Shandelier by clicking here !
8. Pin Consistently
It’s a great idea to have a least 20 blog posts with 2 to 3 DIFFERENT images and text for each pin so that you can maximize each posts potential. If your goal is to generate more traffic or increase revenue, creating the different image pins will help promote your pins daily. Don’t worry your superhero powers will come in handy with this– But, seriously having a least 20 blog posts to pin with 2 to 3 different images and text for each helps with changing things up so readers won’t get use to seeing the same pins from you. Listed below is one of my blog posts with 2 different pins images and descriptions as an example. As you can see the pin is slightly different but the font & colors still fits into my brand. 🙂 …When you get 20 blog posts, write 20 more to repeat the process. The more quality content you have–the better. …
9. GROUP BOARDS
Whew!! I love love love love Group Boards. Did I tell you how much I love Group boards? Ha! But, group boards would have to be one of the leading ways to generate traffic to a person board from Pinterest. Basically, with group boards, you join other blogger’s boards with other contributors and pin your quality content. In a lot of cases more contributors equal a bigger following on the board which could mean more people seeing your blog post. Yahooooooo!!! It’s wise to join boards focusing around your niche so your posts fit in. For example, since I write a lot of articles on blog + social media growth and ways to side hustle I have joined boards like “ Ways To Make Extra Money, “Social Media Tips”, and more! The 2 ways I find group boards are Pingroupie.com and by looking at other bloggers in my niche boards.
